The Nita - Nemadji Pottery

$67.80

ABOUT

Nemadji Pottery vase circa 1970s. The clay vase features warm swirling candy cane red and black. Early pots were hand-thrown, but most Nemadji pottery was molded from colored or white clay, then fired and left unglazed for a creamy matte finish. The interiors of the pieces are glazed for firing, giving it a glossy and water-resistant finish when done. Various colored paints were floated on water, with a touch of vinegar added to aid in paint separation. Each individual vase thus has a unique pattern, no two can ever be the same.
